SPACES AVAILABLE. Castle Ashby has 35-acres of historic gardens located in the Northamptonshire countryside.  Visitors can enjoy several styles of gardens, these include:

The romantic Italian Gardens were developed in the 1860s in what was the former kitchen garden.  The path through the Italian gardens is marked by topiary, white terracotta urns and benches, as well as by a mulberry dating back to 1795. Beyond the paths, a further trace of the kitchen garden is the sunken lawns, which were transformed to crushed gravel in the shape of the family crest before being lawned in the early 1900s.

In the Butterfly garden, the plants have been specifically chosen to attract butterflies, bees, and many other insects. The main attraction, the Buddleia (also known as the ‘Butterfly Bush’), has been known to attract 18 different species of butterfly.

The secluded ‘Secret Garden’ isfilled with lavender, roses, jasmines, salvia, and many more scented plants.

The Arboretum has a diverse collection of trees and sweeping views of Capability Brown Parkland.

Castle Ashby Gardens are also known for their unique glass houses including the splendid Palm House or Orangery, which dates back to the 1870s. Walking through these gardens is truly like taking a walk back in time.

There will be a conducted tour around many of the gardens and also time to explore other parts independently. The tearooms provide refreshments, but visitors are welcome to picnic in the grounds.
