Regent's Canal - October 2025

A second popular London Walks adventure took place along The Regent’s Canal and surrounds, which made a wonderful setting. Thirty seven members departed Sawston in less than ideal conditions for walking but fortunately the skies in London were clear and raincoats were not required.

Regent's Canal- September 2025

An interesting walk following the route along Regent’s Canal via Little Venice and London Zoo.
Westminster and St. James's - October 2024

Another enjoyable walk was undertaken by the London Walks Group to Westminster and St. James’s
Dean's Yard, Westminster Abbey precinct. This large gated quadrangle comprises most of the remaining precincts of the former monastery of Westminster.

Westminster and St. James's - September 2024

Despite the less than promising weather forecast, an enthusiastic group enjoyed another tour of some of London's less well-known sites. The tour focussed on the area around Westminster and St James's. Little known sights included The Guards Chapel at Westminster Barracks as well as famous locations such as Buckingham Palace and Horse Guards Parade.
Soho to Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden - May 2024
The London Walks Group travelled by coach from Sawston to London and were dropped off near to Charlotte Street (just off Tottenham Court Road). After a refreshment stop the Group walked into the Soho area and onward into Chinatown and Leicester Square. Following lunch (pub, café or a packed lunch sitting in the gardens in the centre of Leicester Square) they walked along Haymarket and Pall Mall to Trafalgar Square, then via Charing Cross into Covent Garden, Neal’s Yard, Seven Dials and out onto St. Martin’s Lane, where the walk finished. After an enjoyable day walking approximately five miles through London in good weather, the coach party returned to Sawston. A highlight of the walk was a visit to the King’s Chapel of the Savoy, Savoy Hill (see photos) which was built in the early sixteenth century.
